Showcase of product innovation and value

Science has achieved another leap forward with the professional digital microscope from Microlinks Technology that comes equipped with a vast array of innovative functions that bring such extras as image-saving, image special effects, scaled measurement, dual-displays, and image contrast.

Skymart launched a new model of portable TV+DVD players. JustWin Corporation showcased its All-in-one Smart Charger, which allows simultaneous charging of mobile phone/PDA batteries of various types and sizes. It’s so flexible that even Li-ion batteries which no longer fit new phones can still be juiced up with this charger that can also handle small gadgets like MP3s or PSP.

Generally, component products are not attractive consumer products, but the creative juices of Arc Electro are the exception. Arc has transformed commonplace connectors to double up as adorable looking insects. And for safety equipment, Sole-Vision Technologies showcased its hottest breakthrough products including wireless RF and fingerprint identification card-reader controllers, multifunctional network controllers, and waterproof card-reader controllers.

Big Buyers bring Big Contracts!

DigiTronics Taipei had the honor of receiving many heavyweight buyers. Many businesses, at the request of the overseas offices of TAITRA, dispatched key buyers to conduct procurement talks. These included HAMA GmbH & Co, KG, and Deja GmbH from Germany, K&K Electronic Ltd from Bulgaria, JC International Inc. from the USA, OCTANORM NORDIC AB from Sweden, China Video Industry Association, Supercom from Canada, Samsung Corporation Korea, Kenwood Japan, and Grupo Granados from Guatemala.

K&K Electronics Ltd from Bulgaria is a large 3C Hypermart with an annual

procurement budget of US$ 300 million. The manager of K&K Electronic, Mr. Plamen Petkov, has a very high opinion of Taiwan computer and communication equipment components. He especially favors products of Digital Solutions, so out of all of Asia he chose only to come to Taiwan. In just two days he placed US$500 thousand worth of orders at the show and stated that he is continuing to source for more!

Meanwhile, Connie Cheng, Manager of Deja GmbH Germany, indicated that Taiwan's technologies and designs of digital products are far more advanced than those of China and Hong Kong and highly competitive on the global market. Representatives of Mantronic Canada and Sartplanet Mangilia have visited electronic shows in Hong Kong and China before coming to Taiwan. They stated that although the products in Taiwan are slightly higher in price that their quality is much better, and as a result they were also able to close deals.

The representative from Cemesa, Spain, was also in Taiwan for the first time and was amazed at the quality of products offered by Taiwan. He was also very pleased about the sales meeting organized especially for his company by the organizer. (P.S. He tipped us off that trip may result in orders worth million dollars!)

IPOs in Taiwan and Domestic Giants

Other businesses sourcing at the show include such multi-national companies who already have offices or procurement centers in Taiwan. These include 3M, Intel, NEC, Nokia, Dell, and Philips. Even the hometown favorites were also out in force at the show busy sourcing and partnering-up. These included winning big names like AUO, Asus, Tatung, Sampo, Teco, Quanta, Delta, Chroma, Chuanghwa Picture Tubes, KMC, and Sitronix.

Biz & cooperation Procurement Sessions

To assist participating businesses, TAITRA organized a series of procurement meetings from April 20 to April 24. And one of the related attractions was the Canadian-based firm Supercom. And it was Oh Canada all the way since Super’s annual procurement budget exceeds US$ 250 million. They even held a special seminar for producers in order to outline their procurement policies that attracted 35 companies including Quanta, Zyxel, and CyberTAN Tech. They followed up with one-on-one procurement meetings to meet with representatives from 15 companies.

The Canadians held additional procurement meetings on April 20th. This company is mainly a distributor of computer peripherals and consumer electronics and sourced networking products such as HDTV, IPTV, and NAS at the show.

Samtack, another major Canadian distributor, this one of computers and electronic products with an annual procurement budget of US$ 150 million, held their procurement seminar and meetings on April 24th. Over 100 companies sat in for their seminar and later 20 firms joined their one-on-one procurement meetings.

NEC Mobiling held a seminar entitled “The After-sales Service Market in Japan” on April 23, and Kenwood Japan and Samsung Corporation Korea held procurement meetings on April 23 and 24 respectively. Specially promoted by the organizers, these meetings, seminars, and exhibitors present tremendous prospects for businesses and cooperation.

Be sure to join 2008 DigiTronics Taipei next April 9th to 12th at the TWTC Exhibition Center that builds upon the success of this year’s event by plugging in an even larger selection of products, producers, and buyers.
